Overview
The School of Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences has an international reputation for the high quality of its Veterinary Science Program and its specialist-led multidisciplinary teaching hospital. This position provides an opportunity for an enthusiastic and skilled person to make a significant contribution to the management of the Murdoch University Veterinary Hospital (MUVH) and to student training.
The MUVH is a dynamic and busy teaching hospital with a caseload of approximately 30,000 a year. It houses some of the leading experts in the fields of small and large animal medicine and surgery. We pride ourselves on the collegial interaction between various disciplines to produce excellent patient care and an optimal learning environment. Centrally located, the MUVH is only 15 minutes from the Perth CBD and 25 minutes to Perth's famous beaches. We enjoy a warm Mediterranean climate, which means plenty of sunny days for activities such as snorkelling, cycling along the river or tasting wines down in Margaret River; your choice!
For this position, the appointee will be expected to provide fiscal management and leadership of the MUVH to ensure that it meets teaching and accreditation requirements. The successful applicant will also be expected to provide some teaching contribution in the Veterinary Professional Life units.
Essential requirements of this position include experience in veterinary hospital or veterinary practice management, a demonstrated ability to develop and manage financial budgets and business plans, and high level written and oral communication skills.
A degree in Veterinary Science, or other health care field, plus experience in a tertiary institution is desirable.
