History
Prior to Valuvet’s inception, valuations of vet practices had been done almost exclusively by accounting firms. However, their lack of knowledge of veterinary practice operations severely restricted their ability. With a veterinary practice frequently being the highest valued investment of a practice principal, we felt (and still feel) it is imperative to be able to have an accurate assessment of value for both a purchaser and vendor.
Seeing a gap in the market and a pressing need, Valuvet entered the market, consulting to the veterinary profession in Australia in 1996.

Dear Tony,
Thank you for your and David’s work on compiling this report. I think you have surmised our practice very well and listed some interesting and accurate observations in your SWOT analysis. It was great to meet you and to discuss our practice and to hear your worldly perspective on aspects of our practice, and of the industry in general
David Beischer
As part of a merger process with a neighbouring practice, we engaged ValueVet to undertake a market valuation of both groups. Having valuations of two complex businesses by respected and experienced veterinary colleagues was pivotal to the process and provided confidence to all stakeholders that we were comparing “apples with apples”. I have also greatly appreciated the insights and generous advice about the performance and value of our veterinary practice from Tony and his team over the years.

I have used Valuvet on several occasions over the last 15 years, mainly with regard to practice valuations but also for general advice.
I have always found Tony and Hugh to be very personable , knowledgable and approachable. When I have asked for a practice valuation , they have thoroughly assessed each practice individually with all factors taken into consideration and provided a clear and concise report explaining the rationale behind the dollar value reached. I had my practice appraised with no intention of selling and they came up with some invaluable insights and suggestions.
I would have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone considering buying or selling , or appraising their current practice.
Warren Veterinary Hospital
I recently engaged the services of the ValuVet team to value my equipment & the practice goodwill as I had had a genuine practice purchase enquiry.
Hugh was able to make a much more meaningful valuation of my practice by spending 24 hours here and getting a real ‘feel’ for the practice. The purchasers and I were both happy to accept the ValuVet team’s valuation. It made for a very amicable changeover to the new young guns.
Small Animal Vet Clinic
I recently engaged Valuvet to value my practice for the purpose of sale as I felt that it was time to leave fulltime practice.
Dr Hugh White spent a full day at my practice itemising and valuing equipment, stock and fittings, photographing the practice, and included an in-depth discussion with me about the staff and practice statistics.
I was impressed not only with the thoroughness of the evaluation but also with the presentation of the report.
In addition to the evaluation and written report, the team at Valuvet made a number of observations and recommendations regarding my practice. Following this, I have already started to implement changes in my practice that will I hope not only increase the value of my practice but also improve my work/life balance.
I sincerely appreciated their professional but personal approach.

Tony Thelander appraised our practice mainly for the purpose of the sale of a share of the business. His approach was extremely professional and thorough, itemizing and valuing stock, equipment, fittings and goodwill. All were clearly documented and precise, so that a value acceptable to both sides was arrived at without argument. Further, suggestions were made to improve the business. These increased the value of the business immediately.
The transaction reinforces my contention that a practice must be evaluated by an independent such as Valuvet, as the respected brand ensures acceptance by both sides.
If I was still in practice I would use his regular critical evaluation to keep up to scratch.
